About Tightfisted Fashion

Welcome Team Tightfisted,
My name is Zakiya and I am the owner of Baltimore's own, Tightfisted Fashion. I started blogging about my thrifting adventures and my daily outfits in 2010; then I decided to launch Tightfisted Fashion as an online store in 2011.

I began by selling items online, at community yard sales and vending at area markets. In 2012, I opened our brick-and-mortar retail store in Station North in Baltimore. Since then, I have stayed grounded and involved in the local community curating events, experiences and activities centered around Black and sustainable fashion.

You may see me throughout the DMV vending, participating in local events/programs, mentoring, holding workshops and consulting on secondhand and fashion.
Tightfisted Fashion has provided high quality expressive vintage and inspired fashion for over 10 years. We connect guests to beautiful fashion, created space for entrepreneurs, host amazing events, build great relationships and serve our community.

We hope that you will continue to support us and our efforts to live a renewed life through secondhand living.

If you know us, you know we value excellence and collaboration between Black Owned businesses

My Advice to Entrepreneurs
1.  Learn about yourself. Find your strengths and weaknesses. Expand your talents and skills. 2.  Become a master at your craft and refine your skills. Educate yourself on the skill or service you provide by reading up on it daily, shadowing other businesses and individuals in the field and immersing in the culture of your business.
3.  Be creative and find ways to monetize your skills and talents.
